Taylor Swift has been getting a lot of hype lately. So, I figured I’d see if there were a few songs I liked from her. There has to be right? She’s been in music for over twenty years. I betted myself that I could find at least one song that I’d like. Hell, I did this bet to myself with Nikki Minaj and found two or three songs I liked.
I can’t. I really tried it. But I can’t get into Taylor Swift. Now, I’m not going to bash her on this post because I have zero beef with the woman. But she just doesn’t have a song I can get into. Keep in mind, I did about a four-hour song binge assuming I’d find one song I’d like. I didn’t find one. Not one. I’ll explain as we go along.
The music feels kinda young to me
Okay I don’t want to make it sound like she’s Blue’s Clues or anything. But it’s clear Taylor’s music is geared to young White women. Clearly, that’s her demo, which I clearly am not.
I haven’t heard any melodies or songs that I could just groove to
I like catchy, fun, and quirky songs. Of course, not over my R&B and Rap, of course. But when I hear a Swift song, I just haven’t heard a song that made me say, “Okay I’d bump this.”
Not a fan of her vocals
I get it, everyone is not going to sound like Pattie LaBelle or Mariah Carey. But I don’t like her vocals. She can be nasally and flat. It takes me out. Now, I do have Brittney Spears songs that I like. She can also be nasally but not as flat or monotoned.
I’ll try again later
Maybe I’ll try again later. You can see above where I gave an honest reaction to one of her latest songs. But I think I’ll try again in a few months. Maybe
