Honestly, not really big into celebrity gossip. But this one drove me a little crazy. Recently, Jenna Jackson said that she thought Kamala Harris’s father was a white man.
She claimed that someone told her that her dad was white. “Jackson continues, ‘Her father’s white. That’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days.'” Vulture article.
What gets me on this is it’s obvious that Kamala Harris a black woman. I personally haven’t seen the news in a couple days either. But this is common knowledge. Kamala’s father Jamaican born Donald Jasper Harris, economist and emeritus professor at Stanford University. Her mother was from India.
You don’t necessarily need to CNN or watch news every single day just to know this fact.
The other issue is Kamala Harris is having a real problem with people questioning her identity, her blackness, and what kind of woman is she? People were questioning if she hates black men, people are questioning. Does she hate black people? This contributes to the misinformation. About kamala harris, and this kind of misinformation is what messes up elections.
Now, luckily, Janet Jackson isn’t somebody who people go to for political advice or commentary for that matter. But this is steel enough for somebody who’s uneducated to say, “Hey Janet is an authority, she’s a celebrity, she knows what she’s talking about” and believe it.
I don’t think I got me to what the reporter had tried to clear things up with Janet to explain to her that Kamala Harris, his father is Jamaican and a well-known economist at that. janet doubles down on what she was allegedly told, and what she believes.
Am I disappointed in Janet Jackson? Yes.
She need to stay out of politics. But am I surprised? No.
I mean, let’s be honest here. We don’t go to Janet Jackson for my political advice or information. I don’t expect Janet Jackson to know ins and outs of the political system any more than I do. It’s not like she’s Roland Martin, or anything.
But didn’t I still understand how are you firing the publicists for an apology? And why haven’t you issued an apology?
It’s clear that she’s wrong. A five minute google search proves that quickly.
What is the problem with you owning up to it. I mean, she’s been in the limelight long enough to know you can’t get out of this type of storm.
