I Screwed Up–Story 6

Someone said, “Real men don’t cry.” Did that man ever have to walk six and a half miles to a gas station with broken ribs? No, I don’t think so! But we finally made it to the gas station. Redhead held my hand inside the store, because she’s didn’t want me to run away. She bought a gas canisters and about five gallons worth of gas. Just enough to get the van back here and fill up. I have noticed that a white old man, with a few teeth and losing his hair, seemed to take a liking to Redhead. He was very thin a short and had a five o’clock shadow that was going on 7pm. His clothes were worn, but smelled very clean. Every time he looked at her, he gave a lustful grin. I even caught him licking his lips when she bent over to pick up the canisters.

Outside, as Redhead and I filled the canisters, I saw Alex—Jimmy’s brother, filling up his white BMW. Alex was a die hard Christian with Black Republican viewpoints. He was dressed in a green polo shirt and khaki. When he saw me, he shook his head and rolled his eyes.

“Baby,” I said to Redhead, “That’s an important person in my agency. Let me talk to him and make sure he has everything ready for you in NY.” She believed it.

After a brief greeting, Alex said to me, “I don’t even wanna know what got you out here. Jimmy told me everything I wanna know.”

Okay, just as I figured he did talk to Jimmy. I then gave him the detail of Jimmy’s suicide. He looked at me shocked and then lowered his head. “That’s why he didn’t return my calls.” Holding back tears, he just repeated “Wow” over and over.

“Alex, what the hell did you say to him?”

Alex went onto say to me that he called Jimmy to remind him that their aunt in Arizona could be dying at anytime. Jimmy didn’t want to leave me by myself with those two women, or interrupted me, until we dropped them off somewhere in either Natomas or Elk Grove. Well, Alex started calling him a sell-out to the family and questioned his loyalty to the family. He even treated to keep his kids from Jimmy, who loved his nephews as if they were his own. So Jimmy decided to drive to Arizona, even though I was still banging these two women. Now, I guessed after I fucked Redhead and the blonde, the three of us fell asleep, because Jimmy would have told me something about this. The last call Alex made to Jimmy was to say that their aunt died then said a few Bible verses to remind him of his sin. He told him not to come to the funeral or call him again. I guessed that must have been what made Jimmy commit suicide.

“You know Leo,” he said to me, “the family always had a hard time accepting your friendship with Jimmy. You’re the reason he’s less like our family and more like a screw up—”

I punched his nose, causing him to bend over and favor it. “He was a good man—even better uncle. I can’t believe you wrote him off like that. Obliviously, he put you and your family on a higher plateau then me and it still didn’t make you people happy.”

“The reason we’re not happy,” he said as he recovered, “is because—well—look at the sin you in now. How could we respect a man who hangs out with a man who would rather be with some grossly fat woman over his son just because she’s easy?”

I said as I grabbed his shirt, “There is no woman on this planet that’s more important then my son.”

He smirked. “Tell your son that. He called me,” because Alex was my son’s mentor and youth leader at church, “and asked me how come his dad didn’t return his called. He called you six times.”

I checked my phone—it was dead. I checked the battery—missing.  Hmm? Redhead had to of took it out.

“Hell,” he said, “when I saw Bev’s new boyfriend backhand Leo Jr. in Shelly Sholes, I just know you two broke up and you didn’t want to be a daddy any more.” Balling my fist and clutching my teeth, my ribs suddenly didn’t hurt anymore. He continued, “Don’t worry, I stepped in and made sure it never happened again. But still, another man is raising your son? Hmm.”

I motioned for his phone. “I’m calling my son now!”
